Maison Delas Frères, established in Saint-Jean-de-Muzols in the northern Rhône, was founded in 1835 and has been directed since 1996 by Jacques Lardière, a renowned oenologist, under the stewardship of the Roederer group. Across 20 hectares, this estate excels in the Hermitage appellation. The cuvée Les Bessards 2018, a still red wine, is crafted from 100% Syrah sourced from the lieu-dit Les Bessards, on steep granitic soils, vinified in stainless steel vats and aged for 16 months in barrels, of which 50% are new.
On tasting, this wine offers an intense purple robe and a powerful nose of blackberry, black pepper and violet, with a smoky mineral note. On the palate, it reveals a robust structure, dense tannins and a persistent finish, marked by accents of graphite and spice. Ideal with a roasted leg of lamb or a matured cheese, the Delas Hermitage Les Bessards 2018 captivates with its depth and Rhône elegance.
