Delas Frères, based in Saint-Jean-de-Muzols in the northern Rhône, was founded in 1835 and has been led since 1996 by renowned oenologist Jacques Lardière under the Roederer group. Spanning 20 hectares, this estate excels in the Hermitage appellation. The Les Bessards 2018 cuvée, a still red wine, is crafted entirely from Syrah from the Les Bessards lieu-dit, on steep granitic soils, vinified in stainless steel tanks and aged for 16 months in barrels, 50% of which are new. Presented in its original wooden case (OWC), it epitomises prestige.
On tasting, this wine displays an intense purple hue and a powerful nose of blackberry, black pepper, and violet, with a smoky mineral hint. On the palate, it offers a robust structure, dense tannins, and a lingering finish, marked by notes of graphite and spice. Perfect with roasted leg of lamb or matured cheese, the Delas Hermitage Les Bessards 2018 captivates with its depth and Rhône elegance.
