Hermitage Blanc 1996 from Domaine Jean-Louis Chave: a white wine from the Rhône, where Marsanne and Roussanne unite on granitic soils. Fermented in barrels, it offers aromas of honeysuckle and damp stone, a creamy palate, and a saline finish. Perfect through 2026 with shellfish or cheeses.

Since 1481, this family estate has embodied the pursuit of excellence and fidelity to the terroir of the Hermitage, in the northern Rhône valley.

Tasting notes for Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Blanc 1996
To the eye: Yellow-green robe with golden highlights, of a silky intensity and crystalline brilliance, like a shard of stone polished by time.
On the nose: Delicate aromas of dried honeysuckle and camomile, followed by a saline touch of wet stone, then dry herbs and ripe fruit – apple and red berries – before ending on a discreet note of caramel and pastry.
On the palate: Elegant and creamy texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, stretching into a long and persistent finish where sweetness and tension intertwine.
Serve at 9°C in a white Burgundy-style wine glass to enhance its complexity.

A vintage defined by balance, where freshness and ripeness complement each other harmoniously, offering an ideal structure for aging.
- Aging potential: 10 to 15 additional years under optimal conditions – a cool cellar, away from light and vibrations.
