A family legacy rooted on the slopes of Hermitage since 1481, where each cuvée embodies unwavering fidelity to an exceptional terroir.
- Terroir : Granitic and schistose soils on the Hermitage hill, in the northern Rhône, imparting a distinctive minerality and unique depth to the wines.
- Vinification : Plot-by-plot aging before blending, to preserve the purity of individual lieux-dits and balance complexity with elegance.
Tasting notes for Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage 1994
– To the eye : Garnet red robe with brick-toned reflections, silky in density and crystalline in brilliance.
– On the nose : Aromas of black cherry and ripe strawberry intertwine with notes of licorice, black pepper and flint, lifted by a saline and mineral touch.
– On the palate : A velvety attack, with silky yet present tannins, lively acidity and a chalky structure, extended by a long, spiced finish where candied fruits and smoky nuances intertwine.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Burgundy-style red wine glass to reveal its full complexity.
