Romanée-Saint-Vivant 1997 by Joseph Drouhin, Grand Cru from Vosne-Romanée, reveals calcareous and mineral soils. This Pinot Noir, with notes of cherry and undergrowth, captivates with its silky palate and taut freshness. Perfect with roast chicken or aged cheeses.
A family house founded in 1880, rooted in the heart of Burgundy, where respect for the terroir has guided every gesture for four generations.
- Terroir: Clay-limestone soils of Vosne-Romanée, in the Côte de Nuits – a chalky and mineral balance that gives the wines their tension and elegance.
- Vinification: Traditional methods, aged in oak barrels for a precise and silky expression of Pinot Noir.
To the eye: Garnet robe with tawny highlights, of a velvety density, betraying a harmonious maturity.
On the nose: Aromas of candied black cherry, damp undergrowth, sweet liquorice and forest mushroom, lifted by a saline touch and a hint of blonde tobacco.
On the palate: Silky and fleshy texture, supported by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, with a long and slightly spiced finish.
Serve at 16-18°C in a Burgundy glass to release its nuances.
A vintage marked by early ripeness and a balance between roundness and freshness, typical of the great wines of the Côte de Nuits.
- Aging potential: Drink now or keep until 2025 under optimal conditions (cool cellar, away from light).
