Tasting notes for Château Léoville Las Cases 1985
To the eye – A garnet robe with tawny highlights, dense and luminous, betraying a silky maturity and a still-vibrant structure.
On the nose – First, notes of candied blackcurrant and wild blackberry, then wafts of blonde tobacco, fresh truffle, and a saline touch reminiscent of damp undergrowth after rain.
On the palate – A velvety attack, smooth yet persistent tannins, a lively acidity carrying a chalky minerality, and a long finish where black fruits, gentle spices, and a hint of licorice intertwine.
Serve between 15 and 17°C in a Bordeaux glass to fully release its aromas.
