Tasting notes for the wine Château Gruaud Larose Gruaud Larose 1944
- To the eye : A garnet robe with tiled reflections, dense and slightly veiled by the decades, betraying a silky texture and generous substance.
- On the nose : First, aromas of wild blackberry and candied blackcurrant, followed by notes of cedar, blonde tobacco and a hint of damp undergrowth, all lifted by a subtle chalky salinity.
- On the palate : A velvety attack, carried by a lively acidity and a still-present tannic structure, offering a long and mineral finish, where sweet spices and dark fruits intertwine.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
1944 Vintage
A vintage marked by climatic rigor, where the ripeness of the grapes gave birth to a wine of rare intensity, both powerful and balanced.
