The Château Léoville Poyferré 1974, from the gravels of Saint-Julien, is aged in new oak barrels. Notes of blackcurrant, tobacco and vanilla, a dense palate and silky tannins. Mineral and persistent finish. Ideal with braised lamb or truffles.
Nestled at the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation, this historic estate has embodied Bordeaux excellence for nearly three centuries.
- Terroir: Gravel and pebbles on deep soils, shaping wines of mineral elegance and precise structure.
- Vinification: Meticulous blending, aged in barrels for a harmony between power and finesse.
To the eye: Garnet robe with brick-red hues, of a silky density and still vivid brilliance.
On the nose: Aromas of candied blackcurrant, cedar, blond tobacco and undergrowth, lifted by a saline touch and a hint of graphite.
On the palate: Velvety texture, supple yet present tannins, taut acidity and a long finish with notes of licorice and dried mushroom, underpinned by a chalky minerality.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
A classic Saint-Julien vintage, marked by balanced maturity and a structure conducive to remarkable aging.
- Aging potential: Ready to drink now or to be kept for another 5 to 10 years under optimal conditions (cool and humid cellar).
