The Château Rayas 2014, a red wine from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, reveals the purity of Grenache on sandy-clay soils. A refined nose of orange blossom and red fruits, a silky and fresh palate, with melted tannins. Ideal with game or cheese, to be enjoyed until 2035 after one hour of decanting.
A family estate rooted in the heart of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Château Rayas embodies a winemaking tradition where exacting standards go hand in hand with discretion.
- Terroir: Sandy and clay-limestone soils of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, lending the wines a distinctive minerality and rare elegance.
- Vinification: Artisanal method, ageing in oak foudres, absolute respect for the fruit and natural balance.
Tasting notes for Château Rayas Rayas 2014
To the eye: A clear ruby robe, of a silky transparency and crystalline luminosity.
On the nose: Aromas of orange blossom and rose petals unfold into a delicate palette, followed by fresh wild strawberry, jammy raspberry, then deeper notes of white pepper, dried lavender, and a saline touch of melted liquorice.
On the palate: A velvety and taut texture, carried by a lively acidity and chalky minerality, leading to a long finish of remarkable purity.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Burgundy-style red wine glass to reveal its full complexity.
