The Clos des Papes 2023, from the clay-limestone soils of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, blends Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah after destemming. Notes of black cherries and flowers, a fleshy and mineral palate. A wine for aging, to be enjoyed through 2050.
A family estate rooted in Châteauneuf-du-Pape since 1896, where respect for the terroir guides every harvest.
- Terroir: Rounded galets and clay-limestone soils of the appellation, bathed by the mistral, shaping wines of vibrant minerality.
- Vinification: Aged in old large oak barrels, without filtration or new wood, to preserve the purity of the fruit and the tension of the terroir.
Tasting notes for Clos des Papes 2023
To the eye – Deep purple robe with garnet highlights, of silky density and crystalline brilliance.
On the nose – Freshness of redcurrant and black cherry, evolving toward notes of iris, menthol and blood orange, lifted by a saline touch and a hint of graphite.
On the palate – Velvety and fleshy texture, carried by a lively acidity and chalky minerality, with a long, saline and airy finish where the elegance of ripe fruit lingers.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux-style red wine glass to release its complex aromas.
Vintage 2023
A vintage defined by balanced ripeness, where cool nights preserved the tension and aromatic complexity.
- Aging potential: 20 to 30 years, to be stored in a cool cellar (12–14°C) away from light.
