The Valandraud 2020, Premier Grand Cru Classé B from Saint-Émilion, is produced from clay-limestone soils. A blend of Merlot (90%), Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 24 months in oak barrels. Notes of dark fruits and spices, with a fresh and structured palate. Ideal until 2035 with meats or cheeses.
Nestled in the heart of Saint-Émilion, this estate embodies the boldness and precision of a family vineyard that has become a reference.
- Terroir: Clay-limestone soils and gravels of the Saint-Émilion AOP appellation, where minerality engages with the generosity of the Bordeaux climate.
- Vinification: Aged in new oak barrels, with a focus on balance between concentration and elegance, without artifice.
Tasting notes for Château Valandraud Valandraud 2020
In the glass: A deep ruby robe with garnet reflections, dense and silky, like a liquid velvet.
On the nose: Aromas of wild blackberry, candied black cherry, followed by notes of liquorice and cedar, lifted by a saline touch and a hint of graphite.
On the palate: Smooth and taut texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, with a long and precise finish, where gentle spices and dark fruits intertwine.
Serve between 16 and 18°C, in a Bordeaux glass to release its aromas.
Vintage 2020
A sunny and well-balanced vintage, where the ripeness of the fruit combines with a freshness preserved by cool nights.
- Ageing potential: 15 to 20 years, to be stored in a cellar at a stable temperature (12–14°C) and away from light.
