The Yann Durieux estate, tucked away in the tranquil village of Messanges in Burgundy’s Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, is the creation of Yann Durieux, a craftsman devoted to living wines. Having honed his skills at Domaine Prieuré-Roch, he established Recrue des Sens in 2010, tending his 3 hectares biodynamically with exemplary precision. The Night Cost L17 cuvée, under the Vin de France appellation, is crafted from Pinot Noir sourced near Nuits-Saint-Georges. This 2017 vintage, vinified without sulphur or filtration, relies on whole-bunch maceration and tank ageing for a pure expression.
On tasting, this still wine reveals a deep ruby hue and a rich nose of blackcurrant, peony, and pepper, with a smoky hint. On the palate, it delivers a fleshy texture, velvety tannins, and well-integrated acidity, finishing with notes of dark fruit and wild herbs.
