Vinified with precision and freshness, aged in oak barrels with sparing use of new wood, the wines of Domaine Bzikot, both white and red, beautifully illustrate the mineral purity and aromatic tension that have made Puligny-Montrachet world-renowned.

History of Domaine Bzikot

The story of Domaine Bzikot is that of a singular family within the Burgundian wine landscape. It all began during the Second World War, when Sylvain Bzikot's grandfather, a Polish immigrant, came to settle in Burgundy and more precisely in Puligny-Montrachet, drawn by the magic of the Côte de Beaune terroirs. Three generations later, the Bzikot family has firmly established itself in the village and is now an integral part of Puligny's viticultural identity.

Sylvain Bzikot, after honing his craft alongside his father, founded his own estate in the mid-1990s, continuing the family tradition while gradually asserting his own style. A discreet yet passionate winegrower, he is dedicated to delivering irreproachable quality, blending inherited tradition with modern technical precision. In addition to the estate's core activity, he has also developed an independent négociant operation, focused on the rigorous selection of grapes and wines from partner growers who share the same high standards. Today recognised for the consistency and quality of his cuvées, Domaine Bzikot has established itself as an accessible benchmark for the great white wines of Puligny-Montrachet, regularly acclaimed by critics.

Terroirs and Vineyards of Domaine Bzikot

The vineyard of Domaine Bzikot extends over approximately fourteen to fifteen hectares, located exclusively on the Côte de Beaune, in the heart of southern Burgundy. The plots are spread across five emblematic appellations: Puligny-Montrachet (the historic heart of the estate, with a benchmark Premier Cru, Les Folatières), Saint-Aubin, Auxey-Duresses, Santenay and Volnay. In addition to these estate-owned vines, a négociant activity allows the range to be broadened with a few additional cuvées under the Meursault and Bourgogne Chardonnay appellations.

The soils, predominantly clay-limestone with marly layers typical of Puligny, east- and southeast-facing between 230 and 320 metres in altitude, offer Chardonnay an ideal setting to express its full minerality and freshness. Pinot Noir, planted on the hillsides of Volnay, Auxey-Duresses and Santenay, also finds here a favourable terrain for expressing its finesse. Sylvain Bzikot adopts an environmentally respectful approach, favouring sustainable farming practices, with particular attention paid to soil health and the longevity of the vineyard.

Winemaking at Domaine Bzikot

In the cellar, Sylvain Bzikot combines tradition and modernity to craft precise wines that reflect the pure expression of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Harvesting is done by hand, with rigorous sorting of the bunches. For the whites, pressing is gentle, followed by careful settling. Fermentations proceed slowly, at low temperatures, in order to preserve the aromatic range and freshness of the wines.

Ageing is measured, in oak barrels with a low proportion of new wood adapted to each cuvée, to support the wine without masking its terroir identity. The constant pursuit of freshness and tension is the recognisable signature of the estate, allowing the wines to gain in finesse, precision and complexity. Malolactic fermentations are conducted with care, and the wines rest in the cellar for a sufficient length of time before being bottled. The result is expressed in Chardonnays built around notes of citrus, white flowers, hazelnut and flint, with a taut and harmonious palate, and in elegant, fruity and refined Pinot Noirs.

Bourgogne Rouge: A regional Pinot Noir with a clear, limpid colour, boasting a characterful nose of mixed red fruits, a light and fluid palate driven by lovely acidity. A gourmand and accessible wine, perfect for immediate enjoyment.

Santenay Blanc: A village Chardonnay from the commune of Santenay, at the southernmost tip of the Côte de Beaune. The wine unfolds a mineral and fruity nose, a taut, round and harmonious palate, with a fresh finish.

Auxey-Duresses Rouge: A village Pinot Noir from Auxey-Duresses, in the Hautes Côtes de Beaune, this wine combines vibrant fruit, supple structure and beautiful aromatic finesse, in an accessible and pleasant style.

Volnay: A village Pinot Noir from Volnay, the reigning appellation for finesse on the Côte de Beaune. The wine captivates with its elegance, aromas of small red fruits and flowers, its silky and refined palate, in the airy and delicate style that is characteristic of the appellation.

Puligny-Montrachet: The estate's emblematic village cuvée, this 100% Chardonnay illustrates all the nobility of the appellation. Brilliant golden colour, a gourmand nose of flowers, hazelnut and toasted notes, a balanced and harmonious palate, controlled acidity and a persistent finish. A benchmark Puligny-Montrachet at an excellent price-to-quality ratio.

Puligny-Montrachet La Rousselle: A single-vineyard cuvée from the lieu-dit La Rousselle. The wine offers a more precise and mineral expression of Chardonnay, with aromas of white-fleshed fruits, citrus and a subtle buttery note, supported by a beautiful saline tension on the finish.

Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières: The flagship Premier Cru of the estate, this cuvée embodies the excellence of Puligny-Montrachet. A mineral attack, beautiful length, an opulent finish with notes of fresh almond, toasted hazelnut and yellow flowers. A frank and profound Chardonnay, built for long ageing, capable of ranking among the finest signatures of the appellation.
