This renowned estate of the Vouvray appellation, located in the Loire Valley, was elevated in less than 30 years by Noël Pinguet. His pragmatic approach to biodynamics contributed greatly to this success. Domaine Huet was indeed one of the pioneers of biodynamic farming in France, as Noël Pinguet introduced the first biodynamic practices as early as 1988.
Since 2012, Noël Pinguet has no longer been part of the estate. Founded in 1928 by Victor Huet and his son Gaston, this property has now passed into the hands of the Hwang family. It was indeed acquired by Anthony Hwang in 2004. Sarah, the daughter of the family, manages the 35 hectares entirely devoted to whites made from the white grape variety: Chenin. The vineyard is planted across three plots: le Haut-Lieu, le Mont and le Clos du Bourg. The estate produces approximately 120,000 bottles per year. The diversity of the soils creates the diversity of the cuvées. Clos du Bourg, with its shallow soil, produces structured and powerful wines. Conversely, Haut-Lieu has a deep soil that gives life to supple wines. Finally, Le Mont, whose clay-siliceous soil sits on the levee of the Loire, yields subtle, complex and elegant wines. Whatever the style of wine (still or sparkling), the cuvées are always of high quality owing to the excellence of the terroirs. The harvests are done by hand. The grapes are picked in successive passes, ensuring the collection of "Noble Rot" to obtain grapes of beautiful ripeness and high quality. The three crus are vinified separately and each cuvée is aged for six months until bottling, which takes place in April. The Le Clos du Bourg moelleux cuvée, with its golden-hued robe, offers a delicious bouquet of apples and candied pears. On the palate, notes of ginger appear on the finish. With a beautiful aromatic complexity, the Le Mont moelleux cuvée offers great energy and lovely bitterness on the palate. Another cuvée from Domaine Huet, the Le Haut-Lieu demi-sec cuvée, has a beautiful golden robe and a nose of dried fruits and toasted almonds. The palate is well balanced and of great finesse with notes of stone fruits. Notable among the estate's mythical vintages: 1947, 1959, 1989, 1990 and 1997.
