Neighboring the Larcis Ducasse estate, at the behest of owner François Mitjaville, Château Tertre Roteboeuf is an unclassified Saint Emilion Grand Cru, even though it deserves to be classed amongst the best of its appellation. Located 35km east of Bordeaux the 5,7 hectares of vines (planted at around 6,500 vines per hectare) are rooted in clay soil typical of the southern part of Saint-Emilion. The average vine is over 40 years old and the vineyard, which consists of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, is managed in "lutte raisonnée". Tertre Rotebœuf produces no white wines...
