History of Domaine Vincent Dancer

The history of Domaine Vincent Dancer begins in 1996, when Vincent, originally from Alsace, decided to take over the family vines in Chassagne-Montrachet. Initially destined for an engineering career, he became passionate about viticulture and settled in Burgundy to pursue training in viticulture and oenology in Beaune. From the start, Vincent adopted a rigorous and respectful philosophy, working his vines with care and patience. After seven years of experimentation, he marketed his first cuvées in 2003, marking the beginning of a meteoric rise.

In 2016, Théo Dancer joined his father, bringing fresh energy while preserving the family heritage. In 2021, Théo took the reins of the estate, continuing the quest for excellence initiated by Vincent. The first estate in Chassagne-Montrachet to obtain organic certification in 2012, Domaine Vincent Dancer is now recognized worldwide for its vibrant wines, true to their origins. This story of authenticity and passion makes the estate an essential destination for purchasing exceptional Burgundy wines.

Terroirs and Vineyards of Domaine Vincent Dancer

Domaine Vincent Dancer extends over 6.3 hectares of vines, spread across the prestigious appellations of Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, Pommard, and Beaune. These exceptional terroirs, predominantly planted with Chardonnay for whites and Pinot Noir for reds, benefit from limestone and clay soils, conducive to the expression of fine and mineral wines. Among the emblematic parcels are Premiers Crus such as La Romanée, Tête du Clos, and Les Perrières, as well as the Grand Cru Chevalier-Montrachet.

Certified organic since 2012, the vines are cultivated with meticulous care. Théo Dancer, faithful to his father's approach, experiments with biodynamic practices and favors low yields (15 to 25 hl/ha) to guarantee optimal concentration. Soil work, often done by hand or with horses in the Premiers Crus, preserves biodiversity and microbiological balance. The introduction of cover crops, high trellising, and agroforestry, particularly in Nantoux in the Hautes-Côtes, testifies to the estate's commitment to sustainable viticulture. These practices give the wines a unique expression of terroir, ideal for enthusiasts seeking authentic cuvées to purchase.

Vinifications at Domaine Vincent Dancer

Vinification at Domaine Vincent Dancer is based on a non-interventionist philosophy, where the winemaker's hand steps aside to let the fruit and terroir speak. Hand-harvested grapes are treated with artisanal precision. For whites, the clusters are crushed then pressed in a vertical press. The juices ferment without added sulfur, with indigenous yeasts, in Chassin barrels (20 to 50% new oak depending on the cuvées). Fermentations, sometimes very long, occur naturally, without bâtonnage or temperature manipulation. After 18 months of aging, the wines rest for a few months in stainless steel tanks before bottling without fining or filtration, with a minimal dose of sulfur.

For the reds, the approach is equally refined: destemmed grapes undergo a short maceration, gentle pressing, and aging in barrels with very little new oak. This process yields fruity, digestible, and elegant reds, perfect for accompanying a wide range of dishes. This respectful vinification guarantees wines of great purity, ideal for collectors and enthusiasts wishing to purchase exceptional Burgundy wines.
