History of the Bachelet Ramonet Estate

The Bachelet-Ramonet estate, nestled in the prestigious Côte d'Or in Chassagne-Montrachet, represents a family heritage of four generations of winemakers. Today, it is Alain Bonnefoy and his wife who passionately lead this family operation, perpetuating a centuries-old tradition of Burgundian viticulture.

Terroir, Vines and Vinification

The estate's 13 hectares of vineyards flourish on exceptional terroir, where the richness of the limestone soil gives the wines a unique identity. Committed to tradition and quality, the estate practices environmentally friendly viticulture, favoring the purest expression of the terroir. Vinification, carried out with care and precision, preserves all the finesse and elegance of the grapes, resulting in wines of classic style and remarkable quality.

The Estate's Cuvées

The Bachelet-Ramonet estate offers a range of cuvées representing the essence of Chassagne-Montrachet.

Among them, the Burgundy premier crus and the two Burgundy grand crus stand out for their precise expression of the terroir and their perfect balance on the palate. The red wines, such as the Chassagne-Montrachet premier cru Clos de la Boudriotte, impress with their finesse and elegance, while the whites, like the Chassagne-Montrachet La Grande Montagne 2021, offer freshness and minerality characteristic of the terroir. The estate produces 2 Burgundy Grand Crus: Bâtard Montrachet and Bienvenue Bâtard Montrachet. They also produce 9 Burgundy premier crus: Caillerets, Grandes Ruchottes, La Romanée, La Grande Montagne, Les Vergers, Morgeot (in white and red), Clos Saint Jean, and Clos de la Boudriotte. Also, the Village appellation Chassagne Montrachet (in white and red) and Puligny Montrachet Les Enseignères. Finally, they produce a regional appellation Bourgogne Aligoté as well as a Bourgogne Côte d'Or.

Chassagne Montrachet, Its Iconic Estates, and the Best Vintages

Chassagne-Montrachet, an iconic village in the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy, is globally renowned for its exceptional white wines made from Chardonnay grapes, as well as for its red wines made from Pinot Noir, covering an area of 300 hectares. While the southern part of the village produces excellent red wines and some premier crus on limestone and marl soils, it is the reputation of the great whites that dominates in Chassagne-Montrachet. The iconic Grand Crus such as Le Montrachet and Bâtard Montrachet, which also extend to Puligny Montrachet, as well as Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet, exclusively located in Chassagne, testify to the excellence of the terroirs. The white wines of Chassagne-Montrachet, more mineral-driven than those of Meursault, are distinguished by their elegance, buttery and biscuity notes, and aromas of dried fruits and spices.

Among the most renowned producers in the region are Ramonet, Fontaine Gagnard, Domaine Leflaive, Henri Germain, Hubert Lamy, Pierre Yves Colin Morey, and Vincent Dancer, all sharing the same passion for quality and authentic expression of the Burgundian terroir. Each of these estates brings its own interpretation of Chassagne-Montrachet wines, offering enthusiasts a variety of styles and flavors to discover and enjoy.

Some of the best vintages of Chassagne Montrachet include 1953, 1959, 1969, 1971, 1978, 2005, 2019...
