The Château La Conseillante 1969, from Pomerol, draws its character from clay-gravel soils. A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, aged in new oak barrels, it reveals aromas of cherry, raspberry and spices. Silky and mineral on the palate, ideal with venison chops.
A family estate rooted in the terroir of Pomerol since the 18th century, shaped by the passion of the Nicolas family.
- Terroir: Clay-gravel and iron-rich "crasses de fer" soils of Pomerol, conferring a distinctive minerality and rare elegance to the wines.
- Vinification: Parcel-by-parcel method in concrete tanks, followed by ageing in oak barrels to preserve the purity of the fruit and the complexity of the terroir.
Tasting notes for Château La Conseillante Conseillante 1969
To the eye – A garnet red robe with tawny reflections, dense and slightly veiled by time, revealing a silky texture and generous body.
On the nose – First aromas of black cherry and candied raspberry, followed by deeper notes of liquorice, faded violet and a mineral hint of graphite, all enveloped in a subtle smoky note of spiced oak.
On the palate – A velvety, almost unctuous attack, where taut acidity mingles with a chalky minerality, extended by a long and saline finish marked by gentle spices and a hint of tobacco.
Serve between 16 and 18°C in a Bordeaux glass to fully release its aromas.
Vintage 1969
A vintage marked by early ripeness and remarkable balance, where the freshness of the fruit blends with a tannic structure already softened by time.
- Ageing potential: Best enjoyed now, with a limited conservation potential of a few years under optimal conditions (cool and humid cellar).
