The Mugneret-Gibourg estate spans 8 hectares across 9 different appellations, including Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny and Nuits-Saint-Georges. It also produces some of the most sought-after Grand Crus in Burgundy: Échezeaux, Ruchottes-Chambertin and Clos Vougeot. This diversity of appellations makes it a reference estate for enthusiasts wishing to explore the richness and complexity of the Côte de Nuits from a single producer.
The wines of Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg are recognized for their ability to age harmoniously. Marie-Christine, who oversees the winemaking, has preserved a refined, subtle, and harmonious style that ages admirably while retaining its natural grace. The Villages and Premiers Crus cuvées can generally be enjoyed between 5 and 10 years after the vintage, while the Grands Crus such as the Échezeaux or the Ruchottes-Chambertin benefit from being kept for 10 to 20 years in a cellar at 12 to 14 °C, away from light and vibrations. To bring out their aromatic complexity to the fullest, it is recommended to decant them one hour before serving.
Among the most iconic cuvées of the estate, the Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru is renowned for its depth and aromatic complexity, while the Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru Les Feusselottes stands out for its delicacy and aromas of red fruits and rose, perfectly illustrating the finesse of this appellation. These two references crystallize the excellence of the estate: one embodies the structured power of Gevrey-Chambertin, the other the airy grace of Chambolle-Musigny, two complementary facets of Burgundian genius.
Depending on climatic variations, the estate produces between 20,000 and 30,000 bottles per year, spread across 9 different appellations. This deliberately limited production volume, combined with a sustainable viticulture approach that prioritises quality over quantity, explains the rarity of the cuvées on the market. Enthusiasts and wine merchants from around the world compete for each vintage, making these wines highly sought after from the moment they go on sale.
Among the most remarkable vintages from Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg, the years 2015, 2010, and 2009 stand out for their exceptional quality, having benefited from ideal climatic conditions that ensured optimal grape ripening. These vintages are renowned for their great depth and aromatic complexity. Discerning enthusiasts also take a keen interest in the 2017 and 2012 vintages, which produced wines of beautiful purity, reflecting the talent of the winemakers and the unique richness of the Côte de Nuits terroirs.
Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg was founded in 1933 by Jeanne Gibourg and André Mugneret, following their marriage in 1928 and their settling in Vosne-Romanée in 1930. Modest in its origins, the domaine gradually expanded thanks to the passion and tenacity of the family. It was their only son Georges Mugneret, an ophthalmologist in Dijon, who enlarged the family vineyard through successive acquisitions of prestigious plots, notably Clos Vougeot Grand Cru in 1953, followed by Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru in 1977. Today, this wonderful family adventure continues across several generations.
