The Domaine Les Creisses is located in Valros in the Pays d'Oc, a few kilometres past Pézenas on the way to Béziers, in the Languedoc Roussillon. The family estate Les Creisses has existed since the 19th century and was taken over in 1998 by Philippe Chesnelong. The Domaine Les Creisses covers nearly 30 hectares of vines, a large portion of which is dedicated to producing the Les Creisses cuvée as a Vin de Pays.

The Les Creisses cuvée is made up of 2 blended terroirs: 11 ha located on a stony clay-limestone plateau with deep soil on one hand, and on the other 20 ha of plots spread across poorer gravelly terraces (Villafranchian gravels) surrounded by woodland, planted with old Grenache and Cinsault. The blending of these 2 terroirs and the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Carignan achieves silkiness, density and freshness thanks to the limestone terroir, combined with the finesse brought by the old Grenache and Cinsault. Domaine Les Creisses also produces a second cuvée as a Vin de Pays named Les Brunes, and the Mourvèdre (20%) that partly comprises this cuvée comes from a hillside terroir on an ancient lava flow, with a south-east orientation. Here, the dark basaltic soil gave its name to the Les Brunes cuvée. However, Les Brunes, with its Coteaux du Languedoc appellation, is above all made up of a majority of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%) and also complemented by Syrah (20%). Philippe Chesnelong is technically advised by his cousin from Bordeaux, Louis Mitjaville, and the experience he brings is undeniable in terms of winemaking and ageing. Les Brunes is a powerful Languedoc red, aged for 16 to 18 months in one-third new barrels, and requiring a few years of cellaring. Les Brunes delivers a beautiful depth and shows a very dark and intense colour, while developing aromas of blackcurrant, red fruits and spices. The tannic structure is tight, and the finish of this red wine remains nonetheless lively, with cocoa and a hint of menthol freshness. The Cabernet Sauvignon and the Pays d'Oc sunshine lend it something of the style, structure and richness of a great fine wine from Bordeaux… It can be cellared for 5 to 8 years, and it is advisable to aerate the wine well before serving, in order to make the most of it. Domaine Les Creisses is well known among enthusiasts and recognised by specialist critics. It can also be found on the tables of the finest restaurants, and one should not hesitate to acquire a few bottles, as the potential of the wines from Domaine Les Creisses is significant, and the quality-to-price ratio undeniable.
