History of Domaine Aurélien Revillot  

Originally from Mâcon in Burgundy, Aurélien Revillot was introduced from a very young age to the love of the land, vines and wine. After obtaining his degree in agronomic engineering in 2006, followed by an oenology degree in 2008 in Dijon, he traveled the world to perfect his experience. From Burgundy (Domaine de la Romanée-Conti) to Oregon (Domaine Drouhin), via South Africa (Newton Johnson), Languedoc, and Alsace, each stage of his journey has enriched his expertise and unique approach.

In 2009, attracted by the charm of the Loire vineyards, Aurélien joined Domaine de la Chevalerie in Bourgueil as head of cultivation, working closely with the Caslot family. In 2012, he decided to strike out on his own by taking over 2 hectares of vines spread across several parcels in Bourgueil and Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil. Today, the estate spans 3.5 hectares and produces approximately 12,000 bottles per year.

Terroirs and Vineyards of Domaine Aurélien Revillot  

Aurélien Revillot's estate is located on exceptional terroirs, spread across the communes of Bourgueil, Benais and Ingrandes-de-Touraine. These rich and varied terroirs offer diversity that is reflected in the estate's cuvées.  

The clay-limestone soils, characteristic of the region, alternate with layers of tuffeau, gravel and brown clay. These geological nuances allow a unique expression of Cabernet Franc, the emblematic grape variety of the Loire Valley. The parcels, worked according to the principles of organic and biodynamic farming, benefit from meticulous attention throughout the year. Practices include winter hilling, spring unearthing and partial grassing to preserve biodiversity.

Aurélien pays particular attention to each stage of cultivation: from pruning to harvest, each intervention aims to respect the living and reveal the uniqueness of each parcel. The vines, aged 30 to 78 years depending on the parcels, produce grapes of exceptional quality, which serve as the basis for wines of great purity.  

Winemaking at Domaine Aurélien Revillot  

Aurélien Revillot's philosophy is based on natural and minimally interventionist winemaking, respecting the raw materials and terroirs. The harvest is entirely carried out by hand, ensuring a rigorous selection of berries.  

In the cellar, only indigenous yeasts are used, promoting natural fermentation that highlights the identity of the grapes and terroirs. No filtration or fining is performed, and aging takes place in Burgundy barrels of several wines, without using new wood, in order to preserve the finesse and authenticity of the aromas.  

Aurélien favors an infusion approach rather than extraction, producing balanced wines with silky tannins and enveloping texture. This method also emphasizes the freshness and aromatic complexity of the cuvées, while ensuring transparency in the expression of the terroirs.  

The Cuvées of Domaine Aurélien Revillot  

Bourgueil "Sur les Hauts"  

Historic parcel of the estate, "Sur les Hauts" is produced from 30 to 50-year-old vines planted on gently sloping clay-limestone soils. This wine captivates with its elegance and enveloping smoothness.  

Delicate floral notes on the nose, slender palate with fine tannins and a beautiful tangy finish. Aromas of cherries, red berries and blackberries blend harmoniously with a hint of green pepper.  

Bourgueil "Grand Mont"  

Grand Mont is an emblematic parcel of Bourgueil, recognized for producing aging wines of great complexity.  

Powerful and structured, this wine offers deep aromas and an austere texture in its youth, ideal for prolonged aging.  

Bourgueil "Les Aubuis"  

This single-parcel cuvée showcases the immediate pleasure and elegance of Cabernet Franc.  

Aromas of small black fruits and refined floral notes. The palate is graceful and silky, attesting to the winemaker's talent.  

Bourgueil "Brunetières"  

This cuvée, produced from vines planted in 1955, reveals all the richness and power of the terroir.  

Complex nose of red and black fruits, herbaceous and smoky notes. On the palate, present but silky tannins and beautiful aromatic persistence.  

Bourgueil "Bretêche 1912"  

A rare and prestigious cuvée, produced from century-old vines.  

Intense nose of blackcurrant, blackberry and toasted notes. Full-bodied and structured palate, with silky tannins and long persistence.
