Wine 2011 Bourgogne

The 2011 vintage reveals itself in Burgundy as a correct but uneven year, shaped by an early and unsettling climate: a hot, dry spring that advanced the cycle spectacularly, followed by a cooler, wetter summer, then some of the earliest harvests on record, from the end of August. The result is supple, accessible and charming wines with moderate acidity. The reds (Pinot Noir) play on roundness and fruit, pleasant to drink young from the Côte de Nuits as well as the Côte de Beaune. The whites (Chardonnay), from Meursault to Chablis, offer an appealing substance but should be enjoyed without delay. Framed by the great 2010 and the concentrated 2012, the 2011 is today at full maturity: it is a vintage of immediate pleasure that should no longer be kept.
