Wine 2015 Bourgogne

The 2015 vintage establishes itself in Burgundy as a great year, sumptuous in red. A hot, dry and sunny summer, punctuated by episodes of drought, produced small, concentrated berries. The reds (Pinot Noir) draw from this a remarkable richness, depth and power, supported by ripe tannins and a solid backbone, with peaks in the Côte de Nuits (Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis). The whites (Chardonnay) show themselves generous and opulent, from Meursault to Puligny-Montrachet, sometimes at the cost of a more restrained freshness, and call for somewhat earlier drinking. Promised a long ageing potential, especially in red, the 2015 is still young: its great reds benefit from further patience to fully unfold. It echoes the luminous 2014 and precedes the elegant 2016, in a distinctly fuller-bodied register.
