Wine 2004 Bourgogne

The 2004 vintage in Burgundy forms a fresh and uneven year, with an abundant yield following the minuscule 2003 harvest, in a temperate and sometimes humid season. The reds (Pinot Noir) reveal themselves as delicate: often marked by vegetal notes and diluted substance, they remain variable and call for drinking without delay. The whites (Chardonnay) fare better, fresh, classic and taut, with fine expressions in the Côte de Beaune (Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet) and Chablis. The ageing potential remains limited for the reds and medium-term for the whites. Most cuvées are today ready to drink. Sitting between the sunny and atypical 2003 and the monumental 2005, the 2004 remains a transitional vintage, more convincing in white than in red.
