Wine 2005 Bourgogne

The 2005 vintage establishes itself in Burgundy as a great reference year, one of the most accomplished in decades, born of an ideal, dry and balanced season in which a slight water stress concentrated healthy and perfectly ripe grapes. The reds (Pinot Noir) reach the summit: deep, structured and pure, with fine tannins and superb balance, endowed with an immense ageing potential, with monumental successes in the Côte de Nuits (Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis). The whites (Chardonnay) are rich and balanced, from Meursault to Puligny-Montrachet, though some have suffered from premature oxidation. Still young, the great 2005 reds demand patience to reveal their full substance. Framed by the fresh and herbaceous 2004 and the heterogeneous 2006, the 2005 ranks among the very great classic years, alongside 2010 and 2015.
