Wine 2000 Bourgogne

The 2000 vintage in Burgundy traces a charming year, markedly more accomplished in white than in red, marked by a sometimes wet season that demanded vigilance at harvest. The whites (Chardonnay) are the true stars: rich, ripe and generous, of immediate charm, with fine successes in the Côte de Beaune (Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet) and Chablis. The reds (Pinot Noir), lighter and more supple, seduce through their fruit and easy accessibility, in a tender, short-ageing register, with a more consistent success in the Côte de Nuits. The ageing potential is limited, especially for reds made for early enjoyment. Most bottles are today ready to drink. Sitting between the great 1999 and the classic 2001, the 2000 remains an approachable and accessible vintage.
