Wine 2009 Bourgogne

The 2009 vintage establishes itself in Burgundy as a great, generous and sunny year, born of a hot, sun-drenched summer that yielded perfectly ripe and healthy grapes. The reds (Pinot Noir) are its standard-bearers: rich, opulent and charming, with brilliant fruit and silky tannins, immediately seductive, with superb successes in the Côte de Nuits (Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny) as well as the Côte de Beaune. The whites (Chardonnay) are generous and full, from Meursault to Puligny-Montrachet and Chablis, though their freshness is sometimes lacking, inviting you to enjoy them sooner. The reds have fine ageing potential, while the whites can be savoured from today. Rounder and sunnier than the classic, taut 2008 that precedes it, the 2009 is often compared to the great 2005, of which it offers a more opulent version.
