The Griottes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2004 from Domaine Ponsot is born on the limestone soils of Gevrey-Chambertin. This Pinot Noir reveals aromas of red fruits, spices, and a woody touch. On the palate: silky, fresh, and mineral. To be savored through 2030 with game or aged cheeses.
Nestled in the heart of Morey-Saint-Denis since 1872, this family estate embodies the rigor and tradition of the great wines of Burgundy.
- Terroir: clay-limestone and marl soils, notably in the prestigious Grand Cru appellations of the Côte de Nuits, where each plot reveals a unique expression of Pinot Noir.
- Vinification: a respectful approach, combining long maceration and aging in barrels for wines of remarkable precision and depth.
Tasting notes for Domaine Ponsot Griottes-Chambertin 2004
To the eye: a garnet red robe with tawny reflections, of a silky density and crystalline brilliance.
On the nose: aromas of fresh morello cherry, faded rose, and licorice, lifted by a touch of damp undergrowth and a subtle chalky minerality.
On the palate: a velvety texture, underpinned by a lively acidity and saline tension, extending into a long, elegant finish marked by notes of truffle and blonde tobacco.
Serve between 14 and 16°C in a Burgundy glass to reveal its full complexity.
Vintage 2004
A contrasting vintage, where freshness and finesse prevail over power, offering a rare balance to the wines of the Côte de Nuits.
- Aging potential: to be enjoyed through 2030 and beyond, provided it is stored in a cool cellar (12–14°C) away from light.
