A family estate on the Montagne de Reims
Nestled in the heart of the prestigious Champagne region, Champagne Pierre Trichet embodies the elegance and tradition of Premier Cru and Grand Cru Champagne for several generations. This family estate, founded in 1947, is the result of expertise passed down with passion and precision, offering today exceptional cuvées that seduce the most demanding Champagne enthusiasts. Champagne Pierre Trichet combines respect for terroir, artisanal techniques, and modern innovation to create unique champagnes, marked by elegance and an inimitable character.
The history of Champagne Pierre Trichet begins in 1947, with Antoinette Trichet who, alongside her husband Edmond, planted the first vine cuttings in the village of Trois-Puits, on the outskirts of Reims. They thus laid the foundations of a family adventure that would span generations. In 1961, Thérèse Didier and René Trichet, Antoinette's son, continued this work by carrying on with the planting and putting down roots in this exceptional terroir. It was in 1971 that they produced their first Champagne cuvée, marking the beginning of Maison Trichet-Didier.
The estate reached a new milestone in 1989, when Pierre Trichet, Antoinette's grandson, took over the reins. With a passion for his craft and a love for his terroir, he developed the vineyard to reach eight hectares of Premier and Grand Cru. In 2015, he modernized the labels by affixing his name to create "Champagne Pierre Trichet", while adding "Champagne taillé main depuis 1947", a tribute to his ancestors and the tradition that shaped the house. Today, supported by an experienced director, Stéphane Dubois, Pierre Trichet continues to innovate while preserving the values of the house.
The estate is located in the prestigious vineyards of the Montagne de Reims, renowned for the richness of its chalky soils and well-exposed hillsides, ideal for growing Champagne grape varieties. The vines extend across several communes classified as Premier Cru and Grand Cru, notably Trois-Puits, Montbré, Rilly-la-Montagne, Ludes, Cormontreuil, and the Grand Cru of Verzy. This unique terroir gives Pierre Trichet's Champagnes an aromatic profile marked by finesse and balance, highlighting the typicity of each grape variety.
Pierre Trichet favors sustainable viticulture, with partial ground cover to preserve biodiversity, and environmentally respectful practices. The estate also distinguishes itself through its introduction of uncommon grape varieties such as Pinot Blanc, a forgotten variety that Pierre Trichet has recently reintroduced to enrich the diversity and depth of his cuvées.
At Champagne Pierre Trichet, winemaking is a true work of art. The grapes are carefully selected and harvested by hand, guaranteeing impeccable quality from the very beginning of the process. The wines are then crafted and aged in cellars dug eight meters deep into the chalk, providing ideal conditions for the development of aromas and the maturation of the wines.
When blending, Pierre Trichet favors wines with rich profiles, with a roundness on the palate that leaves a lasting impression. "I love wines that have a nose, relief, curves. I am not looking for absolute perfection, but for character," declares Pierre. His artisanal approach allows him to create Champagnes with fruity and generous notes, reminiscent of baskets of fresh fruit. Pierre Trichet ensures that each cuvée expresses its unique character, without sacrificing the pursuit of uniform perfection.
