From the Kimmeridgian soils of Largillier, Coessens Largillier Les Sens Boisés 2020 is a barrel-aged, 100% Pinot Noir blanc de noirs. Notes of candied citrus and spice lead to a silky, mineral palate. Ideal with strong cheeses or spicy dishes; enjoy within 5 to 8 years.
A family estate rooted in the slopes of the Côte des Bar, where Pinot Noir reigns over soils steeped in geological history.
- Terroir: Kimmeridgian clay-limestone soils of Largillier in the Champagne Aube, shaping wines with chalky minerality and rare tension.
- Winemaking: Partial oak-barrel aging for single-vineyard cuvées in which precision and elegance come together without artifice.
Tasting notes for Coessens Largillier Les Sens Boisés 2020
To the eye: A golden hue with pale highlights and a silky clarity, like a veil of light over the slopes of Ville-sur-Arce.
On the nose: First candied citrus—bitter orange and citron—followed by ripe mirabelle plum, then baking spices, cinnamon and white pepper, ending on a saline, almost iodine-like note that recalls the Kimmeridgian soils.
On the palate: A full, rounded texture supported by lively acidity and chalky minerality, extending into a long, taut finish where yellow fruit mingles with a subtle hint of vanilla.
Serve between 8 and 10°C in a tulip-shaped champagne glass to reveal its full complexity.
2020 vintage
A generous vintage in which warmth and freshness found a balance, yielding fully ripe grapes without excess.
- Aging potential: 8 to 10 years; store in a cool cellar (12–14°C) away from light.
