The Morgon 3.14 2018 from Jean Foillard, sourced from the Côte du Py, marries black fruits, violet and minerality on a granitic terroir. This organic Gamay, lively and silky, can be enjoyed now or cellared for 5 to 10 years. Perfect with game and slow-cooked dishes.
Nestled in the heart of Villié-Morgon, this family estate embodies the exacting standards of an authentic Beaujolais, where respect for the terroir has been paramount for generations.
- Terroir : Granitic soils of the Côte du Py, the cradle of the great Morgon wines, shaping wines of singular minerality and depth.
- Vinification : Natural methods and precise macerations, for cuvées of rare purity and elegance, without artifice.
Tasting notes for Jean Foillard Morgon 3.14 2018
To the eye – A deep red robe with garnet reflections, of a silky density.
On the nose – First come black cherry and morello cherry, fresh and juicy, followed by violet and liquorice, before notes of warm stone and undergrowth emerge, underlined by a saline and smoky touch.
On the palate – An ample and structured attack, where fine tannins envelop a ripe fruit without heaviness; the mineral tension and freshness animate a long finish, carried by soft spices and a chalky persistence.
Serve between 15 and 16 °C, in a Burgundy glass to release its full complexity.
2018 Vintage
A generous vintage, where the ripeness of the grapes combines with a preserved freshness, offering an ideal balance between density and elegance.
- Ageing potential : To be kept 5 to 10 years under optimal conditions, away from light and temperature variations.
