The Beaujolais Blanc 2023 by Jean Foillard, a Chardonnay from granitic terroir, captivates with its natural vinification. Notes of white flowers and citrus on the nose, a taut and mineral palate aged on fine lees. A lively and elegant wine, perfect until 2029 with oysters or fine fish.
Nestled in the heart of Beaujolais, this family estate embodies the demands of a terroir and the transmission of artisanal know-how.
- Terroir: Vines rooted on the granitic slopes of Villié-Morgon, where altitude and poor soils sculpt wines of a rare minerality.
- Vinification: Natural methods – indigenous yeasts, hand harvesting – to reveal the purity of the fruit and the tension of the terroir.
Tasting notes for Domaine Jean Foillard Beaujolais Blanc 2023
To the eye: A pale yellow robe with green hues, of crystalline clarity, like a gleam of polished granite in the light.
On the nose: Aromas of hawthorn blossom and Williams pear intertwine with notes of candied citrus, before a saline touch recalls the mineral influence of the soils.
On the palate: Silky texture and lively acidity balance each other in an elegant tension, carried by a chalky minerality and a saline finish that prolongs the tasting experience.
Serve at 12°C in a medium-sized white wine glass to appreciate its freshness and complexity.
