The Château Léoville Barton 2006, Deuxième Cru Classé of Saint-Julien, reveals gravelly soils. This wine, aged in oak barrels, captivates with its aromas of black cherry and tobacco. Powerful and precise, it combines silky tannins with freshness. Perfect with roast lamb, it can be kept until 2040.
A family estate rooted in the legendary terroir of Saint-Julien, where the exacting standards of the Bartons have shaped wines of timeless elegance since 1826.
- Terroir : Garonne gravels and a gravelly-clay subsoil, bathed in the gentle influence of the Gironde estuary — a perfect setting for wines of mineral precision.
- Vinification : A tradition of wooden vats and aging in French oak barrels, producing cuvées where power and refinement achieve a rare harmony.
On the eye – A ruby red robe of silky density, where light reflects in deep, velvety glints.
On the nose – A generous bouquet unfolds in layers: fresh blackcurrant, candied black cherry, then more enveloping notes of blonde tobacco, cedar, and a saline hint of crushed stone.
On the palate – The texture is broad and fleshy, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality; the tannins, of silky finesse, extend the finish into a long, saline and spiced length.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
A vintage marked by balanced ripeness, where cool nights preserved the brightness of the fruit while structuring the tannins with rare elegance.
- Aging Potential : To be enjoyed from today, this wine will continue to develop until around 2040, provided it is stored under optimal conditions (stable temperature, controlled humidity).
