Champagne Mouzon Leroux L'Atavique Tradition, an extra-brut Grand Cru from Verzy, blends 70% Pinot Noir with Chardonnay from the 2022–2020 harvests. Stone fruit, brioche and honey on the nose, with chalky minerality. A lively palate, fine texture and persistent finish. Pair with shellfish or poultry; enjoy within 3 to 5 years.
A family estate rooted in the Grand Cru village of Verzy, where nine generations of expertise have been passed down through biodynamic practice.
- Terroir : Steep, chalky soils of the Montagne de Reims, the birthplace of great Pinot Noirs, shaping champagnes with vibrant minerality.
- Winemaking : Precise blending, aging on fine lees and extra-brut dosage reveal the fruit’s purity and the imprint of the terroir.
Tasting notes for Mouzon Leroux Verzy Grand Cru L'Atavique Tradition
- Appearance : Pale gold with silver highlights and silky clarity, revealing crystalline elegance.
- On the nose : First, aromas of crisp apple and white peach, followed by notes of toasted brioche, acacia honey and a saline touch evocative of Verzy’s woodlands, all lifted by a hint of wild chamomile.
- On the palate : A texture both full-bodied and taut, driven by lively acidity and chalky minerality, with a long, savory finish combining stone-fruit nuances and a subtle bitterness reminiscent of limestone soils.
Serve between 8 and 10 °C in a champagne flute or white wine glass to bring out its complexity.
Non-vintage
A blended cuvée bringing together the 2022, 2021 and 2020 harvests, balancing fruity freshness with mineral depth.
- Aging potential : Enjoy now for its youthful vibrancy, or cellar for up to 5 years in a cool, dark place to let its toasted nuances develop.
