From Verzy Grand Cru, Mouzon Leroux L'Angélique Blanc de Blancs 2019 is an Extra Brut Chardonnay with chalky, saline notes. Five years on the lees give it taut freshness and a silky texture. Perfect with seafood through 2030.
A ninth-generation winegrowing family in Verzy, this estate brings together Champagne heritage and regenerative viticulture.
- Terroir : Grand Cru vineyards in Verzy, on the chalky, siliceous soils of the Montagne de Reims, producing wines with a distinctive minerality.
- Winemaking : Biodynamic farming since 2008, aging in used barrels and extended maturation on the lees for a pure expression of Chardonnay.
Tasting notes for Mouzon Leroux L’Angélique Blanc de Blancs 2019
– Appearance : Pale gold with green highlights, a silky texture and fine, persistent bubbles, like a veil of suspended chalk.
– On the nose : First, notes of candied citrus—lime and pink grapefruit—followed by a touch of hawthorn blossom, then a mineral depth of flint and struck stone, all lifted by a hint of salinity.
– On the palate : A lively, precise opening, driven by taut acidity and chalky minerality that envelops the palate in a texture both rich and airy, leading to a long, saline, almost iodine-tinged finish.
Serve between 8 and 10 °C in a narrow Champagne flute to preserve its freshness and tension.
2019 vintage
A vintage marked by balanced ripeness, with freshness and minerality to the fore, offering a faithful expression of Verzy’s terroir.
- Aging potential : Cellar for 8 to 10 years in a cool, dark place to let its complexity develop.
