This Gevrey-Chambertin 2023 from Domaine Sylvie Esmonin is born on the clay-limestone terroirs of the Côte de Nuits. Its notes of cherry, violet and spices, supported by barrel aging, reveal an elegant and mineral palate. Perfect with rich dishes, it will develop beautifully over 5 to 8 years in the cellar.
A family estate rooted in the hillsides of Gevrey-Chambertin, where time sculpts wines of rare precision.
- Terroir: Clay-limestone soils of the Côte de Nuits, the cradle of great Pinot Noir, where each plot expresses a chalky minerality and a unique depth.
- Vinification: A meticulous approach, balancing tradition and modernity – partial destemming, fermentation in open vats and aging in barrels to reveal the soul of the terroir.
Tasting notes for Domaine Sylvie Esmonin Gevrey-Chambertin 2023
To the eye: A garnet-red robe with deep reflections, of silky texture and promising density.
On the nose: An elegant bouquet blending fresh black cherry, crushed violet, a hint of damp earth and a touch of sweet spices – clove and undergrowth – lifted by a subtle mineral salinity.
On the palate: A precise attack, carried by a lively acidity and a silky tannic structure, where aromas of ripe fruit and chalky minerality unfold, leading to a long, taut finish.
Serve between 14 and 16°C, in a Burgundy glass to capture the full complexity.
Vintage 2023
A generous vintage, where the ripeness of the fruit meets a well-balanced structure, the hallmark of a wine that is both charming and profound.
- Aging potential: 8 to 12 years, to be kept under optimal conditions (stable temperature, controlled humidity).
