Tasting notes for Domaine Sylvie Esmonin Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jacques 2008 Magnum
To the eye: A garnet robe with brick-red highlights, of silky density and a brilliance that heralds generous and precise material.
On the nose: Freshness of morello cherry and blackcurrant, evolving towards notes of undergrowth, liquorice and a saline touch that recalls the chalky soils of the Clos Saint-Jacques.
On the palate: Velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and persistent minerality, with a long finish where soft spices and ripe fruits intertwine.
Serve at 16°C in a Burgundy glass to reveal its full complexity.
2008 Vintage
A vintage defined by slow ripening and a remarkable balance between freshness and concentration, ideal for wines intended for long ageing.
- Ageing potential: To be cellared until 2028 under optimal conditions (cool cellar, away from light and vibrations).
