The Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 2023 from Domaine Sylvie Esmonin expresses the clay-limestone soils of Gevrey-Chambertin. This Pinot Noir (80 years old) is aged in barrels (50% new). Black fruits, spices and minerality on the palate. Perfect from 2029 with duck breast or a matured cheese.
Heir to a family expertise rooted in the hillsides of Gevrey-Chambertin, this estate embodies the alliance between Burgundian tradition and contemporary excellence.
- Terroir: clay-limestone soils of the Côte de Nuits, where Pinot Noir draws its minerality and tension.
- Vinification: a precise approach, combining whole clusters and barrel ageing to reveal the purity of the fruit and the complexity of the terroir.
Tasting notes for Domaine Sylvie Esmonin Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 2023
To the eye: a deep ruby robe with garnet highlights, of silky density and crystalline brilliance.
On the nose: first aromas of black cherry and wild blackberry, followed by notes of violet and liquorice, before a saline touch underlines the chalky minerality of the terroir.
On the palate: a velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and a mineral tension, stretching into a long and elegant finish, marked by fine tannins and a subtle bitterness.
Serve between 14 and 16°C in a Burgundy glass to bring out its full complexity.
