Wines from Domaine Anne Boisson: buy at the best price

Domaine Anne Boisson is one of the finest contemporary signatures in white wines from Meursault and the Côte de Beaune. Daughter of the celebrated Bernard Boisson-Vadot and sister of Pierre Boisson, Anne brilliantly embodies the new generation of winemakers in the village. Emerging from the gradual transition of the family estate Boisson-Vadot, whose winemaking tradition in Meursault dates back more than two centuries, she has been producing her own cuvées under her own name since 2008. Her heritage, precious yet discreet (1.5 hectares of vines spread across Meursault and Auxey-Duresses), allows her to offer a rare and sought-after range of Chardonnays of exceptional purity, complemented by a few Pinot Noir reds, vinified without chemical inputs, using indigenous yeasts, with extended ageing and bottling without filtration. A true ambassador of the elegance of Meursault.

History of Domaine Anne Boisson

The history of Domaine Anne Boisson is rooted in the long winemaking tradition of the Boisson family, present in Meursault for more than two centuries. It all began in the 1850s when a great-grandfather settled as a tenant farmer in Meursault, having lost everything near Tournus following the phylloxera crisis. The modern turning point came with Bernard Boisson, Anne and Pierre's father, who signed his first vintages in 1978 and founded, after his marriage in 1980, the Domaine Boisson-Vadot, one of the confidential references of Meursault.

In 2008, Anne Boisson began signing her own cuvées under her name, in continuity with the project already initiated by her brother Pierre in 2004. When Bernard Boisson gradually retired in 2016–2017, the family vineyard of 8.5 hectares was divided among three entities: the historic share under the Boisson-Vadot label, Pierre Boisson's production, and Anne Boisson's production. Eager to embody the new generation of winemakers, Anne is committed to bringing a personal and innovative vision, while remaining deeply faithful to the values passed down by her father: sincerity, precision and absolute respect for the terroir.

Terroirs and Vines of Domaine Anne Boisson

Anne Boisson's vineyard extends over 1.5 hectares in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, spread mainly between the villages of Meursault and Auxey-Duresses, complemented by a few rows of Pinot Noir for the reds. Although modest in size, this estate is exceptional for the quality of the climats it works with. In Meursault, Anne notably holds the emblematic parcels of Les Grands Charrons (vines over 25 years old), Les Chevalières, and above all the Premier Cru Les Genevrières, one of the most prestigious climats of the appellation. The Sous la Velle cuvée is, for its part, sourced from very old vines planted over 60 years ago.

The soils, predominantly clay-limestone with typical Bathonian and Callovian limestone outcroppings, give the Chardonnay an expression of rare precision: mineral tension, chalky salinity and depth. Vineyard management is exclusively traditional: no chemical fertilisers, soils worked by ploughing, manual pruning, near-market-garden attention paid to each vine, entirely hand-harvested with rigorous sorting in the vineyard to collect only perfectly ripe and healthy berries. This exacting approach guarantees an exceptional raw material, an essential condition for a successful minimalist winemaking philosophy.

Winemaking at Domaine Anne Boisson

In the cellar, Anne Boisson practises a winemaking approach faithful to the teaching passed down by her father Bernard, combining rigorous tradition with a personal touch. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place exclusively with indigenous yeasts naturally present on the berries, without any oenological additives. The wines are racked into French oak barrels, mainly old ones, with a deliberately very limited use of new wood (barely 25% maximum for the Meursaults) so that the oak never alters the identity of the terroir.

Ageing is deliberately long, reaching 18 to 21 months depending on the cuvée, allowing the wines to gain in aromatic complexity and depth. A light bâtonnage is carried out sparingly to add texture and body without weighing down the wine. Bottling takes place without fining or filtration, which preserves the absolute integrity of the wine, yielding Meursaults of remarkable verticality, salinity and freshness. This philosophy of humility and patience gives rise to precise, straight whites that blossom magnificently with a few years of cellaring.

The Cuvées of Domaine Anne Boisson

The Bourgogne Aligoté is one of the entry-level wines of the estate, vinified with the same exacting standards as the Meursaults. Fresh, lively, marked by citrus, white flowers and a superb minerality, it offers a remarkable expression of the Aligoté grape variety, at once suave and taut. A rarity to discover without delay.

The Bourgogne Blanc offers a Chardonnay already highly representative of the house style, with a fine mineral backbone and a saline finish. A long ageing in old barrels yields a white wine of great purity, a testament to the care devoted to the entire range.

The Auxey-Duresses Blanc is a superb alternative to Anne Boisson's Meursaults. Sourced from Chardonnay on clay-limestone soils from Auxey, it offers a straight, fresh and mineral signature, with notes of white fruits, flowers and a mouth-watering finish. An excellent quality-to-price ratio within the range.

The Auxey-Duresses Rouge, crafted from the estate's few rows of Pinot Noir, offers a delicate, fruity and well-balanced red. Notes of cherry, strawberry and gentle spices, a silky palate with a fine texture: a confidential gem well worth discovering.

The Meursault Village is Anne Boisson's classic signature, regarded as the flagship of the estate. A luminous golden-yellow robe, an expressive and complex nose blending white-flesh fruits (pear, apple), tropical fruits (pineapple, mango), vanilla and buttery notes with toasted bread, complemented by floral hints of acacia. A smooth and velvety palate with lovely vivacity, prolonged by a typical mineral touch of the terroir and a long, harmonious finish enhanced by subtle saline notes. A Meursault village that asserts itself as a great fine wine from Burgundy.

The Meursault Sous la Velle is a confidential single-parcel cuvée from vines over 60 years old, planted in a climat characteristic of the village. The exceptional maturity of the vineyard delivers outstanding aromatic concentration and a dense, deep texture, marked by ripe yellow fruits, honey and roasted hazelnut, on a powerful mineral backbone.

The Meursault Les Grands Charrons, sourced from vines over 25 years old, is one of Anne Boisson's illustrious cuvées. Vinified and aged in French oak barrels for 18 to 21 months, it offers a dense and complex texture marked by white fruits, citrus, honey and hazelnut, while retaining a beautiful freshness and great purity. A reference Meursault with strong ageing potential.

The Meursault Les Chevalières is another emblematic signature of the estate. A 100% Chardonnay cuvée on clay-limestone soils, with a brilliant lemon-yellow robe, a delicate nose of white flowers and citrus, a smooth, rich and refined palate, and a persistent finish with mineral notes. A magical expression of Meursault, perfect to drink in its youth or to cellar for 6 to 8 years.

The Meursault Premier Cru Les Genevrières is the absolute pinnacle of the Anne Boisson range, one of the most prestigious Premiers Crus of Meursault. A mythical climat with stony soils, it yields a Chardonnay of exceptional nobility, with deep concentration and remarkable aromatic complexity blending yellow fruits, honey, white flowers, chalky mineral notes and a finish of striking length. A great fine white wine from Burgundy, built for long ageing.
