Daughter of the celebrated Bernard Boisson-Vadot and sister of Pierre Boisson, Anne brilliantly embodies the new generation of winemakers in the village. Emerging from the gradual transition of the family estate Boisson-Vadot, whose winemaking tradition in Meursault dates back more than two centuries, she has been producing her own cuvées under her own name since 2008. Her heritage, precious yet discreet (1.5 hectares of vines spread across Meursault and Auxey-Duresses), allows her to offer a rare and sought-after range of Chardonnays of exceptional purity, complemented by a few Pinot Noir reds, vinified without chemical inputs, using indigenous yeasts, with extended ageing and bottling without filtration. History of Domaine Anne Boisson

The history of Domaine Anne Boisson is rooted in the Boisson family’s long winemaking tradition, which stretches back more than two centuries in Meursault. It began in the 1850s, when a great-grandfather settled in Meursault as a sharecropper after losing everything near Tournus to phylloxera. The modern chapter began with Bernard Boisson, father of Anne and Pierre, who produced his first vintages in 1978 and, after marrying in 1980, founded Domaine Boisson-Vadot, one of Meursault’s lesser-known benchmarks.

In 2008, Anne Boisson began releasing cuvées under her own name, continuing the project her brother Pierre had started in 2004. As Bernard Boisson gradually retired in 2016–2017, the family’s 8.5-hectare vineyard was divided among three entities: the historic wines under the Boisson-Vadot label, Pierre Boisson’s production and Anne Boisson’s. Eager to represent a new generation of winemakers, Anne brings a personal, innovative vision while remaining deeply faithful to the values passed down by her father: sincerity, precision and absolute respect for the terroir.

Terroirs and Vineyards of Domaine Anne Boisson

Anne Boisson’s vineyard covers 1.5 hectares in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, mainly divided between the villages of Meursault and Auxey-Duresses, with a few rows of Pinot Noir for the reds. Modest in size though it is, this vineyard holding is exceptional for the quality of its climats. In Meursault, Anne’s plots include the emblematic Grands Charrons (vines over 25 years old), Chevalières and, above all, Premier Cru Les Genevrières, one of the appellation’s most prestigious climats. The Sous la Velle cuvée comes from very old vines planted more than 60 years ago.

The predominantly clay-limestone soils, with limestone outcrops typical of the Bathonian and Callovian, give Chardonnay an expression of rare precision: mineral tension, chalky salinity and depth. Vineyard management is entirely traditional: no chemical fertilizers, plowed soils, hand pruning, almost gardener-like attention to every vine, and entirely manual harvesting with rigorous selection in the vineyard to pick only perfectly ripe, healthy grapes. This exacting approach ensures exceptional fruit, essential to successful minimalist winemaking.

Winemaking at Domaine Anne Boisson

In the cellar, Anne Boisson follows the winemaking principles taught by her father Bernard, combining rigorous tradition with a personal touch. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place exclusively with native yeasts naturally present on the grapes, without any enological additives. The wines are transferred to French oak barrels, mostly older ones, with deliberately very limited use of new oak (no more than 25% for the Meursault wines), so that oak flavors never obscure the terroir’s identity.

Aging is deliberately extended to 18 to 21 months, depending on the cuvée, allowing the wines to gain aromatic complexity and depth. Light bâtonnage is used sparingly to add texture and body without weighing the wine down. Bottling takes place without fining or filtration, preserving the wine’s integrity and yielding Meursault wines of striking focus, salinity and freshness. This philosophy of humility and patience produces precise, focused whites that develop beautifully after a few years in the cellar.

The Cuvées of Domaine Anne Boisson

Bourgogne Aligoté is one of the estate’s entry-level wines, made with the same care as its Meursault wines. Fresh and lively, with citrus, white flowers and superb minerality, it offers a remarkable expression of the Aligoté grape, both supple and taut. A rarity well worth discovering.

Bourgogne Blanc offers a Chardonnay that is already highly representative of the house style, with a fine mineral structure and a saline finish. Extended aging in older barrels produces a white of great purity, reflecting the care devoted to the entire range.

Auxey-Duresses Blanc is a superb alternative to Anne Boisson’s Meursault wines. Made from Chardonnay grown on Auxey’s clay-limestone soils, it is focused, fresh and mineral, with notes of white fruit and flowers and a mouthwatering finish. Excellent value within the range.

Auxey-Duresses Rouge, made from the estate’s few rows of Pinot Noir, is a delicate, fruity and well-balanced red. Notes of cherry, strawberry and sweet spice, with a silky, finely structured palate: a little-known gem worth discovering.

Meursault Village is Anne Boisson’s classic signature wine, considered the estate’s flagship. A luminous golden-yellow color; an expressive, complex nose combining white-fleshed fruit (pear, apple), tropical fruit (pineapple, mango), vanilla, butter and toast, complemented by hints of acacia blossom. The palate is rich and velvety yet beautifully lively, with a mineral touch typical of the terroir and a long, harmonious finish lifted by subtle saline notes. A village-level Meursault that stands out as a fine Burgundy wine.

Meursault Sous la Velle is a small-production, single-vineyard cuvée from vines over 60 years old, planted in a climat typical of the village. The great age of the vines brings exceptional aromatic concentration and a dense, deep palate marked by ripe yellow fruit, honey and toasted hazelnut, underpinned by powerful minerality.

Meursault Les Grands Charrons, from vines over 25 years old, is one of Anne Boisson’s celebrated cuvées. Fermented and aged in French oak barrels for 18 to 21 months, it offers a dense, complex palate marked by white fruit, citrus, honey and hazelnut, while retaining beautiful freshness and purity. A benchmark Meursault with significant aging potential.

Meursault Les Chevalières is another of the estate’s signature wines. This 100% Chardonnay cuvée, grown on clay-limestone soil, has a brilliant lemon-yellow color, a delicate nose of white flowers and citrus, a rich, refined and creamy palate, and a persistent finish with mineral notes. A captivating expression of Meursault, perfect to drink young or to age for 6 to 8 years.

Meursault Premier Cru Les Genevrières is the pinnacle of Anne Boisson’s range and one of Meursault’s most prestigious Premiers Crus. From a legendary climat with stony soils, this Chardonnay has exceptional nobility, profound concentration and remarkable aromatic complexity, combining yellow fruit, honey, white flowers and chalky mineral notes, with a strikingly long finish. A fine white Burgundy wine built for long aging.
