Château Petit Faurie de Soutard wines: buy at the best price

Château Petit Faurie de Soutard (35km east of Bordeaux) is a Grand Cru Classé of St-Émilion, owned by the Capdemourlin family, who also own the Balestard la Tonnelle estate. The château neighbours the estates of Soutard (whose vineyard was formerly part of Petit Faurie de Soutard), Balestard la Tonnelle, Clos de l'Oratoire and Faurie de Souchard. The Capdemourlin family owns 8 hectares of vines planted at a density of 5,500 vines/ha on clay-limestone hillside soils and sandy soils at the foot of the slope. The vineyard, farmed using sustainable viticulture, is approximately 35 years old and the grape varieties are 65% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate therefore produces no white wine.

Château Petit Faurie de Soutard produces only one red wine (at 42,000 bottles per year), which is rare today in the Bordeaux landscape: it is the Fine Wine of Petit Faurie de Soutard. The Petit Faurie de Soutard estate, advised by the eminent oenologist Michel Rolland, is renowned for producing wines that are full-bodied with richly extracted fruit and a high tannin level. The aromas of the Fine Wine of Petit Faurie de Soutard are composed of jammy black cherry and earth, wet stone and new oak. It is a powerful and concentrated wine, with low acidity and prominent tannins (especially for the 2000 vintage). This Fine Wine can be cellared for between 5 and 15 years. The best vintages of Château Petit Faurie de Soutard are 2015, 2014, 2010, 2009, 2005, 2001, 2000 and 1998. Lovers of great Saint-Émilion wines will not want to miss acquiring a few bottles from this château, especially since the quality-to-price ratio is very attractive.
