This Champagne trading house was founded in 1925 in Epernay. A family-owned and independent house, Maison Lombard offers a range of 15 cuvées. The wines of Maison Lombard are sourced primarily from blends of Ambonnay, Verzenay, Chouilly and Mesnil sur Oger. The Maison meticulously oversees plot selections such as the Crus Mesnil-sur-Orger, Chouilly, Avize and Cramant for chardonnay. For pinot noir, Maison Lombard looks towards the eastern part of the Montagne de Reims. The grapes are pressed at the harvest site and then brought to Lombard in Epernay, where they are vinified on-site in stainless steel vats or oak barrels (producing more powerful and complex wines). Each plot is vinified separately for potential blending. Once bottled, the wines are aged for 2 to 3 years for premier crus and more than 5 years for grand crus. Among Maison Lombard's cuvées, the Cuvée Lombard Brut, a benchmark in a balanced and elegant style, offers an excellent quality-to-price ratio. Maison Lombard is one of the rare houses to produce single-plot cuvées, notably the Cuvées Lombard Nature Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Mesnil, in a very straight style (no malolactic fermentation) with good persistence on the palate, and the cuvée Brut Nature Cramant Grand Cru, a rich palate with honeyed wax notes.
