Domaine LABET is located in Rotalier in the Jura. The domaine was founded in 1974 by Alain and Josie Labet with 9 ha of vines. Their son Julien Labet began working alongside them before establishing his own domaine in 2003 on 3 ha, which he immediately farmed using organic agriculture. Since 2013, the two family domaines have been united into a single entity, continuing the organic conversion of all the vines.

The TOP winemakers of Jura

Domaine Labet now encompasses no fewer than 13.5 hectares, spread across more than 40 small plots, all limited in size (from 15 to 80 ares), and planted predominantly with old vines from massale selections. Domaine Labet focuses particularly on producing Jura white wines that are topped up (ouillés), and therefore non-oxidative (with the exception of vin jaune), as topping up consists of regularly filling the barrels to maintain the highest possible level, in order to prevent oxidation of the wine. On the Jura red wines side, Domaine Labet produces fine, balanced yet highly expressive wines, ranking among the best in the Jura region. Domaine Labet follows a very Burgundian approach to winemaking, comprising numerous single-plot cuvées. The Labet Côtes du Jura Chardonnay "en Chalasse" reveals its power through an intensely aromatic nose (honey, citrus, flowers) and a palate endowed with a magnificent richness, almost buttery, which can perfectly accompany fish in creamy sauce. The Labet Côtes du Jura Chardonnay "les Varrons" comes from a particularly calcareous terroir, with vines over 80 years old. The wine reveals a clear robe, a generous nose marked by notes of yellow fruits, vanilla and camomile, offering a full and fleshy palate, with a finish that lingers on a saline note. It can be cellared for at least 5 to 7 years. The Labet "Fleur de Savagnin" cuvée comes from the emblematic Jura grape variety, Savagnin, which expresses itself here in an intense register. The nose reveals a varied aromatic bouquet composed of notes of flowers, fruits, roasted dried fruits, wax and soft spices. Rich and powerful on the palate, the wine is nonetheless balanced by a great freshness, and can be enjoyed young, or after cellaring for 5 to 8 years. In red, the Labet "Métis" cuvée is produced as a Vin de France. It is a blend of Pinot Noir, Trousseau and Poulsard vinified under oak and aged for between 9 and 10 months in barrels. This Jura red is a true delight on the palate, with a quite remarkable freshness. The notes of red fruits are accompanied by subtle hints of soft spices, and it can be recommended alongside a fish such as tuna.
