Ruchottes Chambertin, located in Gevrey-Chambertin in the Côte de Nuits, is a prestigious Burgundy Grand Cru dedicated to red wines made from Pinot Noir. With an area of only 3.25 hectares, this Grand Cru is one of the smallest in the region, producing approximately 103 hectoliters per year, or nearly 13,700 bottles. Planted at 240-250 meters altitude on a slope with full eastern exposure, the vineyard rests on stony marl-limestone soil with rocky outcrops, hence its name derived from "ruchot" (rock). This exceptional terroir, divided into 27 parcels, includes the famous Clos des Ruchottes, a 1.06-hectare monopole of Domaine Armand Rousseau, representing one-third of the appellation. Ruchottes Chambertin wines stand out for their elegance, offering complex aromas of black fruits (blackcurrant, cherry, blackberry), flowers (rose, violet), sweet spices, and sometimes truffle with age. On the palate, they reveal a silky texture, fine tannins, and distinctive minerality, with aging potential of 10 to 20 years, or more for great vintages. Less robust than Chambertin, this Grand Cru captivates with its finesse and balance.
