Juliette Joblot wines, great wines from Burgundy in Givry

Domaine Joblot wines: buy at the best price

Domaine JOBLOT is located in Givry in Côte Chalonnaise: it is the star of the appellation and a true benchmark for over 20 years in Burgundy. Highly sought after by enthusiasts, the estate's wines are undoubtedly the finest wines of Givry! The vineyard spans 14 hectares primarily in red Burgundy, with 11 ha of Pinot Noir and 3 hectares in white Burgundy. The estate also emphasises the fact that proximity is the key to the care given to the vines: "we strive to minimise the distances between each stage of production in order to protect the fruit and its qualities from the vine to the cellar"

Charles Joblot, father of Jean-Marc and Vincent, was actually at the origin of the Givry AOC, which turned out to be the favorite cru of Henri IV. Today it is Juliette Joblot who leads the estate. She fully succeeded her father Jean-Marc Joblot and her uncle Vincent Joblot since 2012, and she has progressively imposed her vision and her mark on the winemaking of the various cuvées of Domaine Joblot.

A quality that expresses the full rigor of the estate: high planting density with low yields, destemming, and indigenous yeasts.

Wines are made in the vineyard: it is therefore essential to prioritize the quality of the tannins and the freshness of the fruit. Thus, harvests are carried out after multiple tastings of the berries based on the acid balance of the grapes: they are therefore performed quite early, over a maximum of 7 to 8 days. The grapes are vinified with as little intervention as possible, which yields crus of rare freshness, the inimitable character of the estate's wines. The wine style thus rests on the purity of the fruit, roundness, and charm, all with elegance!

The cuvées of Domaine Joblot

The estate offers a very beautiful collection of Premiers Crus as well as Villages appellations. There are no fewer than 7 Givry Premier Cru: 5 reds and 2 whites.
In red: Joblot Givry Premier Cru Bois Chevaux, Joblot Givry Premier Cru Servoisine, Joblot Givry Premier Cru L'empreinte, Joblot Givry Premier Cru Clos Marole, Joblot Givry Premier Cru Cellier Aux Moins, and in white: Joblot Givry Premier Cru En Veau and Joblot Givry Premier Cru Mademoiselle.

The hillsides are exposed South/South-East, on clay-limestone soils, with a high planting density. The wines of Domaine Joblot impress by their tension and their superb mineral framework, in both red and white. The various cuvées are aged for 12 months for the Premiers Crus, with approximately 40 to 50% new barrels. The objective is always to limit the impact of wood and to favor freshness, while highlighting the minerality of the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Jean Marc Joblot, with his training as an oenologist, had long upheld the reputation of Domaine Joblot since 1979, assisted in the vineyards by his brother Vincent, who had joined him in 1986. All enthusiasts seeking an excellent quality-to-price ratio in Burgundy knew the outstanding reputation of the estate. Juliette Joblot, now at the helm of the family estate, is gently evolving the style, in continuity with the wines of excellence of the estate, while lightening the aging of the whites for ever more elegance and finesse.

Among the 1ers crus that have contributed to establishing the reputation of Domaine Joblot, the cuvée "Servoisine" is situated on one of the most noble terroirs of Givry, on a clay-limestone soil, with a full south-facing orientation. Its refinement and depth offer all the complexity of a Premier Cru from the Côte de Nuits, with a deep and complex nose, full of power. The fruit and spices explode in the glass and continue to evolve toward a well-present mineral character. On the palate, the wine presents beautiful power, refinement, and complexity, with tannins of great elegance and a very long persistence. The wine has an aging potential of at least 10 to 12 years.

The 1er cru "Cellier aux moines" from Joblot is neighboring "La Servoisine": always on an exceptional terroir and planted on the upper part of a south-facing clay-limestone hillside. The vines are around 35 years old, and the barrel aging lasts approximately 1 year with 50% new barrels and 50% previously used barrels. Its color is dark, displaying a very dense and concentrated robe. The nose exhales notes of ripe blackcurrant, kirsch cherries, and quite pronounced spice notes. The palate is smooth and truly enchanting, leading to a gourmand and airy finish, perfectly balanced. It is a must for finesse, capable of aging for at least 10 years.

The 1er cru "Pied de Chaume" (red) is a cuvée from stony, marly-limestone soils. Juliette Joblot has brought this cuvée to the summit of the Côte Chalonnaise: she has worked the soils very precisely and carefully measured the yields. The wine is thus charming, balanced, and driven by toasted and fruity notes. The smooth and generous palate, well balanced, then gives way to a magnificent aromatic persistence around black fruits.

The 1er cru Clos Marole comes from vines aged 40 years! It offers a beautiful ruby robe and very pure aromas of red and black fruits. A supple, gourmand, and fruity palate is structured by a subtle undergrowth as well as fine and elegant tannins.

The wines of Domaine Joblot are worthy of praise and rank among the finest crus of Burgundy. To be discovered without delay if you have not already done so!
