Guillaume OVERNOY succeeded his father Jean Louis at the family estate in 2013, when he was only 19 years old. The estate has existed since 1982 in polyculture, located in the village of Orbagna, in the southern Revermont. Gradually, his father Jean Louis had dedicated the Overnoy estate to vine cultivation by purchasing several parcels. It is not so simple in the Jura to bear the same family name as one's great-uncle Pierre Overnoy, legendary winemaker of Pupillin; but Guillaume Overnoy is now trying to make a first name for himself, and it must be acknowledged that he is succeeding, with undeniable talent.

The TOP winemakers of Jura

The Guillaume Overnoy estate is established on almost 6 Ha of vineyard, and since his arrival at the estate, Guillaume Overnoy has converted it to organic farming. The entire vineyard consists of Chardonnay, Savagnin, Pinot Noir, Trousseau, and Poulsard. Guillaume has gradually decided to produce numerous parcel-specific cuvées that reflect all the diversity of his estate's terroirs. Moreover, in terms of winemaking, Guillaume Overnoy excels, and his wines have been quickly distinguished by critics for their purity, fruit, energy, and tension. In the cellar, Guillaume uses low doses of sulfur, fermentations are initiated by indigenous yeasts, and aging is prolonged in barrels. The wine range is now quite complete, and in the range of Côtes du Jura, we can distinguish Guillaume Overnoy's topped-up Savagnin cuvée, which is refined for 38 months in the cellar and reveals subtle aromas of citrus and stone. The palate is chiseled, precise, and frank while retaining an admirable substance. A very beautiful wine... Guillaume Overnoy's oxidative Savagnin is aged for 4 years under a veil of yeast, whose yeasts will have educated this savagnin endowed with astonishing aromatic richness, accompanied by a superb mineral structure. In this wine, one finds aromas of dried fruits, walnuts, and gentle spice notes. A great table wine. Still in the Jura whites, Guillaume Overnoy's Chardonnay vigne derrière cuvée is a very beautiful parcel selection, long aged in wood (22 months of aging), which always has depth, minerality, and finesse. It is an aging wine for at least 10 years. Guillaume Overnoy's Chardonnay sous voile Typé was aged under a veil for 30 months and comes from a clayey and marly terroir. On the palate, it presents beautiful aromatic power but with finesse and subtlety, with aromas of almond, hazelnut, and honey. With great length on the palate, this wine can be kept for at least 10/12 years and will pair well with pressed cheeses and creamy dishes. Guillaume Overnoy has tried orange wines (maceration) with Guillaume Overnoy's Chardonnay Au Vignet, a wine that is balanced and without excess, confirming it to be a beautiful success for the estate. Finally, in Jura red, the "Rougissime" cuvée is a blend of 70% Trousseau, 15% Pinot Noir, and 15% Poulsard. The wine is a true delight with an exuberant bouquet of a basket of small red fruits with a slight hint of pepper. On the palate, the wine is very delicate and velvety but with depth, and it is pure bliss. Highly recommended.
