The LES POETE estate was created by Guillaume Sorbe, and it is located in Preuilly (in the Cher) close to the AOC Reuilly and Quincy. The Poëte estate bears the family name of Guillaume Sorbe's great-grandmother (hence the absence of an S in Poëte), and the winemaking adventure began in 2001 with the planting of vines featuring 3 main grape varieties: Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir.

The TOP winemakers of Loire

Wishing to create haute couture wines, Guillaume Sorbe allowed time for the vines to acclimatize to their terroir, and it was only nearly 10 years later in 2011 that he decided to market his 1st vintage. By highlighting the best terroirs of the Reuilly and Quincy villages, without however claiming the AOC, one can say that his wines are indeed of a high level, and that they compete without hesitation with neighboring renowned appellations such as Sancerre or Pouilly Fumé; the wines of Domaine Les Poëte are labeled Vin de France. Domaine Poete is organically farmed and follows the Demeter specifications, without being eligible for certification, because of its hives whose wax frames are not built by the bees. Of the 17 hectares of the farm, Guillaume Sorbe's vineyard represents just under 6.5 hectares (including 5.1 hectares of white Loire), which still leaves the possibility of increasing the area. Vinifications are meticulously managed: for 12 to 18 months and in small tanks or barrels of 400 and 600 L, as each of the 28 plots is vinified and aged separately. In the range of cuvées from Domaine Poete, you will find the cuvée "Le S des Poëte", "Argos", "Orphée", "Toison d'Or" and "Odyssée". "Le S des Poëte" comes from 1.5 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc vines, located in Touraine. It is an exuberant and chiseled wine, of fine precision and which retains brilliance with its vinous length. The "Argos" cuvée reveals a clear and pure texture etched in the ripe fruit of Sauvignon, concentrated and at the same time delicate with soft aromas of pear and hawthorn. The "Orphée" cuvée, still a Sauvignon, is a composed and mature wine, of great precision in the mouth. "Toison d'Or" is a beautiful cuvée of Pinot Gris, brioche-like, mineral and offers a beautiful saline persistence. Finally, "l'Odyssée" is a cuvée of pure Pinot Noir from Reuilly (red Loire), with aromas of blackcurrant and spices, with a soft, pulpy and quite measured texture of the grape variety. This cuvée constitutes a very beautiful food wine. The level of the wines is remarkable, and the specialized press has already widely distinguished Domaine Les Poëte.
