History of Domaine Alexandra Couvreur

Founded in the 1980s by Michel Couvreur, Domaine Alexandra Couvreur has its origins in a pioneering vision: to produce exceptional wines and spirits with minimal intervention. Michel, inspired by his friendship with Marcel Lapierre, one of the forerunners of natural wine, began with a unique aligoté, cultivated without pesticides, sulphur or added yeasts. Fascinated by distillation after a trip to Scotland, he also created a whisky distillery in Bouze-lès-Beaune, which became the estate's main activity. The wine-growing project, named in honour of his daughter Alexandra, remained a family passion, carried on today by Alexandra and her son Aymeric. The latter, guided by Jean-Arnaud Frantzen, Michel's first employee, perpetuates this heritage while infusing it with a modern vision. Domaine Alexandra Couvreur flourishes on a unique plot of 6 ouvrées located in the Hautes Côtes de Beaune, dedicated exclusively to the aligoté grape variety, a Burgundian treasure once overlooked.
