The Chapoutier Côte-Rôtie La Mordorée 2003 in magnum, crafted from Syrah grown on schist in the Northern Rhône, is aged in oak barrels. Aromas of dark fruits, spices and leather, with an ample palate and silky tannins. A wine for aging, perfect with roast lamb or aged cheeses, to enjoy through 2030.
An iconic estate of the Rhône Valley, Chapoutier has embodied for generations the alliance between viticultural tradition and biodynamic commitment.
- Terroir : Its vines, rooted on the schist hillsides of Côte-Rôtie, draw their character from mineral soils where Syrah flourishes with rare intensity.
- Vinification : Respect for natural cycles, barrel aging for a pure expression of the grape variety, without artifice or filtration.
Tasting notes for M. Chapoutier Côte-Rôtie La Mordorée 2003
- Appearance : A deep purple robe of velvety density, where light reflects in garnet hues.
- On the nose : First, fresh aromas of black raspberry and blackcurrant, followed by deeper notes of new leather, licorice and gentle spices, with a saline touch that evokes the terroir's schist soils.
- On the palate : A silky and generous texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, extending into a remarkably long finish where candied fruits and elegant tannins intertwine.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Burgundy-style red wine glass to fully release its aromas.
