Château Margaux
A symbol of Bordeaux excellence, this mythical estate has embodied for five centuries the perfect alliance between an exceptional terroir and ancestral expertise.
- Terroir: Deep gravels and clays from the Médoc, in the Margaux appellation, which lend the wines a chalky minerality and an unmatched elegance.
- Winemaking: A patient aging in new oak barrels, where each cuvée is crafted to reveal the purity of the fruit and the complexity of the silky tannins.
Tasting notes for Château Margaux 1981
To the eye: A garnet red robe with brick-toned highlights, of a silky density and crystalline brilliance, already betraying an accomplished maturity.
On the nose: A bouquet of rare precision, where candied black cherry, faded violet, a hint of cedar and a subtle touch of graphite intermingle, all enveloped in a saline minerality that evokes the estate's gravels.
On the palate: A velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and an elegant tension, where the melted tannins give way to a long and harmonious finish, marked by notes of blond tobacco and soft spices.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
Vintage 1981
A classic vintage, where balanced climatic conditions allowed the grapes to reach ideal ripeness, today offering a wine of rare elegance and perfect harmony.
- Aging potential: Ready to enjoy now, but can still improve over 10 to 15 years under optimal storage conditions (stable temperature, controlled humidity, and away from light).
