The Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2005, from the La Crau plateau, blends Grenache and Mourvèdre for aromas of blackberry, thyme and spice. Its velvety, mineral palate, aged in foudres, pairs beautifully with meats and game. To be enjoyed until 2030.
Nestled on the mythical plateau of La Crau, this family estate has embodied the soul of Châteauneuf-du-Pape for generations.
- Terroir: Stony and calcareous soils of the La Crau plateau, the cradle of the great wines of the Southern Rhône, where Grenache flourishes under a Mediterranean climate.
- Vinification: Traditional methods with respect for the fruit, with long aging in oak foudres to preserve the purity of the terroir.
Tasting notes for the wine Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2005
To the eye: A deep garnet robe with tawny highlights, of silky density and mineral brilliance.
On the nose: Aromas of wild blackberry and candied black cherry, lifted by notes of dried thyme, grey pepper and a saline hint of flint.
On the palate: A velvety and taut texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, with a long, spiced finish.
Serve at 16-18°C in a Bordeaux-style red wine glass to reveal its full complexity.
Vintage 2005
A sunny and well-balanced vintage, in which the summer heat ripened the grapes without compromising their freshness.
- Aging potential: To be enjoyed until 2030, provided it is stored in a cool cellar (12-14°C) and kept away from light.
