The Mercurey Les Montots 2023, an organic Pinot Noir from Domaine de Villaine, is born on the clay-limestone soils of Mercurey. A nose of black fruits and spices, a silky and mineral palate. A wine for ageing, it blossoms after 5–7 years and pairs beautifully with red meats or game.
Nestled in the heart of Burgundy, this family estate embodies a winemaking heritage where rigour and respect for the terroir guide every gesture.
- Terroir: Clay-limestone hillsides of Mercurey, fully south-facing, where the Pinot Noir draws its minerality and tension.
- Vinification: Hand-harvested grapes, aged in oak barrels (predominantly old) with indigenous yeasts for a pure and precise expression.
On the eye: A deep, dense, and luminous ruby robe, heralding a generous and silky character.
On the nose: Aromas of black cherry and blackberry intertwine with notes of gentle spices, liquorice, and a subtle animal touch, carried by a chalky minerality.
On the palate: A velvety texture, firm yet integrated tannins, a lively acidity that lifts the palate, and a saline, lingering finish.
Serve between 16°C and 18°C in a Burgundy glass to reveal its full elegance.
A vintage defined by balanced ripeness, where freshness and concentration respond to one another in harmony.
- Ageing potential: 15 to 20 years in a cellar, away from light and temperature fluctuations.
